I have a chance to buy 2 17" 1.67GHZ PBs for $2500 total..... but I want an intel 17".

I know no one (except Steve) knows when the new 17" will be out.... should I wait! I am using mostly 1GHZ and slower PBs now! So all are an improvement!

What's everyones guess about time table?

I don't agree. Most rumor sites say:

New iBooks on April 1st (possibly the 13" MacBook Pro as well)

17" MacBook Pro in June

Mac Pro (Powermacs) by September.

You can definitely bet Apple will want to transition all the laptops prior to July/August, because they'll want new units to promote before school starts again.

Who needs 2 17" laptops? Wouldn't you only need one? PM me if the other 17" is for sale--at those prices I might crossgrade.

It just depends of what kind of work do you do… take graphic design as example, people have designed great stuff for years with way less powerful computers, a 1,67 GHz 17 inches for $1250 is a fantastic deal, no doubt I would get it, it'll last easily until we are really in the need to move to intel Apple computers…

So I am of the opinion that it would be a great buy in almost every kind of job you do… with the exception -I guess- of HD video.

Buy them now! A 17" PB is worth 2500 for one. Sell one off quickly, and then decide if you want an Intel later (when they come out).

I for one am eagerly awaiting the 17" MacBook pros. I have a 12" 1.5ghz laptop and while it is a nice and solidly built machine, I still am underwhelmed by the quality of the screen and the wireless range. Everything else is solid, but those two are important to me. I know the 17" screen is way nicer and clearer now not to mention when the Macbook pro version comes out, but how much better is the wireless range? I have read that they have moved the wireless antenna to the point of slightly changing the hinge, but did it improve the wireless range a significant amount. It is downright embarassing and frustrating when my co-workers can easily connect to wireless spots that my computer sometimes doesn't see.
Great deal on the 17" Powerbooks. I still can't believe how much some people will pay for some older models, it is crazy. I stopped bidding on a 15" ti book late last year when it started to spiral out of sight. It ended up at about $1585 which is ridiculous when you consider how much a new one costs and the fact that this machine was almost 3 years old!
