I am not trying to be condescending, as I am reasonably sure that I have made all of the following mistakes before. Is the drive plugged in? Is the cord/AC adapter good? Is the outlet good? Is there an on/off switch that has been set to off?

then have you tried testing the outlet with another port? If that aint it, then I'd say its toast.
