Hello,

My PB died

However I did have a full backup. Tomorrow when I get my new MBP I would like to move my files from the backup to the new machine. I have a few questions which you folks will be able to help me with.

1) Im told that there is a migration wizard which takes data from an older machine and migrates it to the MBP. My PB is dead but I have a backup on an external drive. Will the wizard move the files from the external drive or does the external device have to be another Mac?
2) Assuming I cant use the wizard I suppose I can just copy the files in the Music, Documents folders to the respective location on the MPB and when I run iTunes (for example) it will work as normal.
3) I want to copy some apps from the backup. I assume that I can simply copy the actual program from the application folder and it will work as normal with all prefs etc maintained?

Thanks very much folks... im looking forward to my MBP tomorrow!

I had no problem using the migration assistant from a firewire drive to my MBP.
