MacBook Pro whine to be fixed in software update

Just got email saying Apple is working on fixing the whine. It can be fixed in software and future update will solve the problemo. Happy?

You want to talk mature? You knew very well what you were posting and implying initially and how people with this problem in their MBPs would likely react. My MBP doesn't even have this issue and I think you're an idiot for posting what you did.

Well, I for one am hopeful that this is correct information, and I feel a little relieved. My MBP hasn't even arrived but I have considered cancelling my order to wait for the whine to be fixed. If it's a software fix then my order can stand. Hooray!

Who accused you of spamming?
And this isn't an issue about your level of English. It's one of netiquette, and using " " implies that you posted something that was tricky or funny. Your initial post was misleading, and would be regardless of which language you typed it in.
The very least you should do is apologize for the misunderstanding, if that was in fact what happened.

Well, it's not April 1st yet and since my whine does stop when Photo Booth runs (it only whines when on batteries) I think this might be fixable with a software patch.

my whine has altogether stopeed. just powered it up today and it's gone....nothing has changed other than i loaded toast on it the day before....that's all don't know if that made the difference but i'm happy it's gone!

Doesn't the photo booth 'fix' simply stop the whining by using a constant amount of CPU resources? That's what I assumed, but quotes like these seem to imply otherwise.

To sum it up, the buzz is caused when processor usage goes below 8% or so. The photo booth fix simply causes constant CPU usage, which means the whine is gone, but so is the full potential of your MacBook.
The guy came up with a script that causes the minimum threshold of CPU usage required to stop the whine (much more efficient than running photo booth) and also adjusts its priority via 'nice', so when you have other apps launched using CPU cycles, the script will automatically lower its priority and use of resources as it is no longer needed. Good stuff.

The first Power Mac G5 had a whine/roar too that was fixed after a software update. A later software update made it return  I think it got fixed again on the early models.
This was the script to quiet the G5 whining
