I just bought a new powerpook about 3 months ago. When I disconnect the power adapter the computer turns off. I have charged the battery, reset the PMU and PRAM. Anyone got any other ideas?

Apple says I have to take it in to an authorized service center b/c it is past the 90days free phone support.

I was an Apple certified portable & laptop technician for several years until about a year ago when I changed jobs, then I just never renewed my certification. I have never seen a Mac portable do this in the years I have been working on them.

Have you downloaded and run the Battery updater (if it is a 15") - it is possible you got one of the defective batteries which needs its firmware upgraded.

I would also take a look at the battery contacts. Corrosion or dirt potentially could also cause such symptoms.
