Does anyone know if the fan on the Mercury powerbooks is thermally controlled or if it should be on all the time. The fan seems to be fine but its not spinning, at least not before i'm shutting the computer down due to my worries about overheating the board.

Yes it is temperature contoled... only comes on in high demand situations.

Set it on bed and watch what happens!

thank god, I've been sitting here worrying its going to shot the board, this thing does get pretty hot.
