I currently own a iBook 900, due to many logic board issues I am thinking about getting rid of this unit. I was looking for a cheap replacement that could be used for websurfing(wireless)/email/word processing. I found the lombard with 320MB of RAM for around $150 with OS X 10.3 . With just these requirements would this unit be a good purchase or should I save my money? Also can you use an airport card as a PCMCIA card on the Lombard?

I have a Lombard. Besides reliability, that would be a step down from your current iBook in terms of specs. I think that is would meet your needs, but it would be quite a bit slower. You can use a pcmcia airport card with it. If it is the model with the DVD drive, there is an issue with it. You would not be able to play DVD movies in OS X. You could do it with OS 8 or 9, but not X.
