Does anyone know where I might be able to find that original 5 or 10 minute (can't recall how long it was) quicktime promotional video that aired on the Apple site when the Powerbook G4 first appeared?

(i.e., the one with Jonathan Ives and Phil Schiller waxing poeting about how beautiful it was, and the musician talking about how great it was, etc. "A battery that lasts 5 hours, perfect for a flight from New York to LA," etc....)

He's looking for the introduction video I guess, not the ad...

I've been looking for that too. I also have been looking for the Macworld 2001 keynote. It seems that it doesn't exist anywhere on the internet.

Hi all,

I am sorry for the delay. I was not at home over the weekend and did not take my powerbook with me.
Now I have uploaded the promo to megaupload (that was a good idea, uicandrew).

Here is the link:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LAIZBDU1

I will leave it intact until this thread is on page 3 or so.

Michael

PS.: I just started the download to test if everything works. Be prepared to see nasty ads. But the movie file downloads ok.

Doctors Michael and Reducto, thanks so much for posting these! It was neat to see it again after so many years.

It's odd to look back on the Tibook and think that at the time it seemed like the coolest thing since sliced bread. It was a beatiful design, do doubt, but it now seems so dated for some reason...

The video is just priceless.

I remember that old font that Apple used to use for everything, including the 1G iPod. What's the name for the font? I really like it.

Well, I am not sure that it is dated.
I just downgraded from a 1GHz/12 inch Alu Powerbook to a 1GHz Titanium. The Ti is even a little bit faster than the Alubook and its ability to swap the hd easily is a big fat pro for the old machines! Battery lifetime is more than 4 hours in real life.

I Like the design too. Looks a little baroque but not necessarily inferior to the Alubooks. Just different...

Seconded! Plus the Ti´s only hidden design flaw was the chipping paint. Others than that it was nearly perfect; i still prefer to have the ports on the back covered by a panel (i think, the cracking hinges were mostly due to exaggerated force when trying to open the lid).

And thanks for the link
