Unfortunately, I have had the misfortunate of having the keys on my keyboard melt from TiBook 800 DVI. I know that replacements are available both new and used, but I have other concerns.
First, I am not sure why it happened. I was charging it as normal, off with the lid closed overnight. When I opened it the next day, the majority of the keys were distorted and falling off. The keyboard actually functions without the keys and the computer appears to work otherwise. I have run the Hardware test disk that came with the computer and it test normally. But I am still concerned that something must be wrong internally to cause it to overheat this drastically.
Second, should I pay for a new or used keyboard for this laptop or should I point my money to a new MBP. My current 'book is running 10.2.8 and only has a combo drive. I have been saving for a new machine, and have enough to get a new one, but I really wanted to wait.
Anyone out there know of way to find out why my keys melted? And second , any opinions on repairing what I have and upgrading to a new MBP with a more up to date OS?
