Hi,
So I booted up my powerbook this morning, and noticed in the bar at the top of the screen that bluetooth is now un-available.
Doing a system profile check shows that there is no information about bluetooth, and it appears that there is no blue tooth module installed. There is, as I am on a 15" Aluminium powerbook (1.5ghz)
The machine was sleeping most of the weekend, and did run out of power before I could re-charge it - could this have something to do with it?
Any advice or suggestions on how I can get it back, working again???
Thanks

Sounds like you may need to reset your power management unit (PMU). Search Apple Knowledge Base (or your manual) for how to do it on your model Mac.

My Bluetooth module when AWOL for a while too. 1.5GHz 15" Alu PowerBook (2004).
Same symptoms as above.
Eventually, a restart fixed it.
It disappeared again when the latest Bluetooth firmware updater came out. The updater would see the module, I'd run it, it would fail, and the Bluetooth module was gone until the next restart.
Reliably.
I have no idea what it might be, but I'll probably be taking it in for service eventually.

About 3 years ago my bluetooth disappeared on my 12" Powerbook G4 12" (867/640MB) after a software update (can't remember which version). I tried everything, zapping the PRAM, resetting the PMU and a few other fixes I can't remember, nothing worked.
Then my hard drive died and I had to replace it. Being a littly on the stingy side I opened up the Powerbook to install it myself and decided to have a poke around. Unplugged and plugged the bluetooth connection on the logic board and when I booted up, there it was. For the first time in 3 years myPowerbook feels complete!
Anyway, just my take on the bluetooth problem and how I fixed it, just for those people who couldn't fix it any other way.
(My ipod decided to act up around the same time as the harddisk and I fixed it with another weird method, by opening it up and shaking the harddisk a little. now itworks better than it has for a long time!)

I was very surprised to see the module disappear -- shat myself would be nearer the truth.
A reboot sorted it in the end, rebooted four times.
Not a good experience all in all.
