Last week my son inserted a music cd into my powerbook g4 in an attempt to load some songs from it to his psp. The cd played and the songs loaded into the itunes library. However when I tried to eject the cd it would not come out right away. It sounded like the drive was still running it. After pressing the eject button several times it eventually came out but now it will not function. I can insert a data or music disc and it sounds like it is running, but nothing appears on the screen.
Is my drive ruined or is there something I can do to reset/clear it?
If it is under warranty, send it in, if it isn't....send it in. Slot-loading drives have somewhat complicated loading mechanisms. It is very hard to tell what is wrong when you can't actually see or hear what is happening.

Shut down and restart! Maybe the spring on the eject mechanism is stuck!
Sometimes a restart will reset it!
