Hey everyone,
I threw this on the apple support boards but no one can give me a clear cut answer and no one on MR seems have any idea either so I figured hey maybe someone at MacNN knows!
I recently just got a G3 Wallstreet. It's a great machine, well taken care of and everything, here are the specs:
G3 466mhz (Powerlogix 233mhz wallstreet upgrade)
256MB PC100 RAM
20GB HDD
14.1" screen
I love it and all but it has some MAJOR issues it seems. When I first booted it up, it gave me a floppy disk with a question mark on it, which I understand is the old world ROM for "No valid startup disk", similar to the question mark and finder folder on a Lombard/Pismo. So I threw an OSX Jaguar CD of mine into the drive, it didn't detect it o_O ok. So the machine came with a OS 9.2.2 disc from a PowerMac G4, tried that and it sounds like it's doing something but nothing happens. I tried a TON of commands, from the reset commands to PRAM commands to booting with C (obviously) and nothing seemed to work.
So I give up trying to get this freshly formatted/wiped/verified 20GB drive to work and throw the 4GB drive it came with into it. It takes a couple resets and such but after a few resets it boots the 4GB and it apparently had OSX on it! woohoo! So I can't leave well enough alone and try the 20GB again and once again it screws up and I throw the 4GB in but this time, it doesn't even load the 4GB.
Luckily my old Lombard is now in the possession of my girlfriend, so I went over to her house and used that thing as a sort of voyuer or something and installed OSX on the 20GB drive on that. I throw that into the Wallstreet and it boots Jaguar! I'm running Jaguar on it that night and go to bed and let it sleep. I go to turn it on yesterday and it doesn't seem to wake up (either that or this weird backlight thing happened where the backlight is fine and turns on on the OSX loading screen but shuts off during use of Jaguar and I have to hit the brightness button to turn it on again) So I unplug the machine, remove the battery, plug it back in and it gives me that freaking floppy disk again!
So I've worked for literally two days on this machine it seems I'm back to square one, can anyone help me out?
