For the past two months this problem has steadily been getting worse. My optical drive (combo drive in a G4 iBook) works great, it reads, burns with no problems. But when its time to eject, it usually takes 10+ tries to successfully get a disc out of the drive. The drive itself is ejecting and as far as I can tell doing so with proper force. But there is a, what looks like, brush/cloth "cover" I'm guessing to keep dust out of the drive that looks like the pieces of fabric are tugged and pulled blocking the disc from ejecting properly.
I could be wrong, and it could be the drive isn't using enough force to get the disc out, but before spending $75-100 on a new drive, I want to make sure its not the "filter" blocking the discs.
Anyone know a good starting point to resolving this issue?
