No its not the RAM, it would have to be something else, try calling apple about it, is your ibook still under warrenty? If so then maybe you could just take it back to apple and have them give you a new one if something is wrong wth it or if they don't give you a new one they will surely replace it.

That should work fine. Are you on high performance in Energy Saver?

Try upping the CPU speed to High, because if you have energy saver to be on best battery settings, It bumps down the CPU speed to save battery life. This should help with watching movies and with other stuff too.
