Has anyone ever heard of the sudden motion sensor in an iBook (or other 'Book) causing kernel panics? I've got an iBook G4 that will often KP when it's moved. My first thought would have been a loose AirPort card, but with the new ones that seems unlikely. Then i remember that they have the motion sensors and wondered if perhaps that was causing the problem. A Google search didn't reveal anything helpful.

Does anyone know if this is likely/possible and what I might be able to do about it?

Thanks.

whoa you should just send that in... its possible its a software problem if its one of the new 1.33 ibooks with the motion sensor, but i think thats unlikely.

Go into /System/Library/Extensions, and move the following two files outside of the directory (maybe onto your desktop or something):

IOI2CMotionSensor.kext
PMUMotionSensor.kext

Reboot. Your motion sensor is now completely disabled (because the driver was never loaded). If the iBook still crashes when you move it around, then you have your answer -- it's not the motion sensor. In that case, just move the two extensions back into the original directory, repair permissions for good measure, and then reboot again.

Main HD/Applications/Utilities/Disk utility

Yor main HD and every bootable disk will appear in the left pane. Choose the drive and click FIRST AID-being cautious as not to select ERASE!

You can verify and repair permissions.
