There must be something I'm missing because I cant intsall bootcamp cos i dont have the right firmware - i cant install the firmware cos it says i dont need it so im trying to use the firmware restoration tool.

Iv burned the disk.

I have the laptop connected to the mains

im pressing and holding the power button but then I get only the quick flashing lights (quite a lot of em) and then a system beep, then the apple start up beep and the computer starts up normally.

Iv tried taking my finger off the power buttoin after the flashes then inserting the cd, iv tried keping hold of the button to see what happens (the same thing as i said above) and iv tried it with the cd always in...

Any ideas?!

Did you update to 10.4.6 before trying to update the firmware?

yea - i updated as soon as it was released - which was before the firmware patch
