Hello. Here is my situation, I have an ibook G4, running Mac OSX 10.4. My ethernet port has broken, basically, the wires inside are broken. So, i need to connect to the internet via Ethernet, and ill need something, like an Ethernet to USB Adapter, is there anything I can use?
There are a heap of cheap ones online ive found, $20ish, but ive been told by the people selling them they dont work on a Mac. That said, they dont need drivers, might they still work on a mac? The people selling them would have just read from the packet, i imagine, rather than trying them out.
If not that, what else could I do/buy?
Thanks.

You always need drivers. Sometimes generic drivers work for simple devices, (Mice, keyboards) but when it comes to something as complicated as a wi-fi adapter you can doubt that it will work. If it says windows, and doesn't say Mac, it almost definitely won't work. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here.

Shop.com says that you can download the driver. Big deal, if you have no internet connection, but just find a computer, download and burn it. MacMall doesn't seem to mention compatiblity, but considering that it is MacMall, I'd bet that it will work.

Should this not be in networking? I thought that was why it got locked in peripherals...
