Viruses are written for platforms, not for processors. A virus written for Windows, will run on Windows; a virus written for Mac OS will run on Mac OS, etc.

Y no entienden nada... ¡y cómo se divierten!...

We have had a lot of discussion with the appearance of the first true trojan for Mac OS X in the past months. Do a search in this forums and you will find a lot of information.

The short answer to the question is: "No, there are currently no viruses for Mac OS X."
The long answer really gets into what a virus is, and what the latest incident was not.
There are no viruses for Mac OS X, however, anyone can write a trojan that will trick a user into executing some code that will cause problems for them. The latest incident was a trojan, which is not a virus, because it does not self-replicate. Social engineering is always going to be around. Be careful when you use any computer, and you will be fine. When you receive an attachment to an email, or a file via an instant messenger, and you were not expecting to receive the file, don't open it, especially if you don't know where it came from. This is going to be true for Mac OS X, as much as it is for Windows, especially as the Mac OS gains a greater market share.

In other words there are no system damaging "viruses" for the mac yet. That is why you never hear of programs that are offered for the mac for viruses and spyware etc like McAffee and Norton AntiVirus and other stuff. Back in the day when I was using Windows (Eck) XP, I swear I spent about $500 on just taking the f'in thing into best buy every month and having them fix the litter f'er. I even had that Norton AntiVirus thing going and that didn't seem to do a thing. My machine had gotted one big huge virus on it that was gong to cost like $200 to fix so I went and bought a mac and wholla, no more viruses!! I'm in the good life now.
