In case anyone is interested, I just recently upgraded my 1-year old iBook G4's hard drive from the standard 30GB drive to a new 100GB model. I posted pictures and a description of the process on my site, in case others were interested in just how easy or difficult it was. I can say that, if you know how to follow instructions, are careful, and have about 3-hours on your hands, it can be done, and it's not that hard at all.

Sorry, completely forgot to post my question when I created the thread. I guess I got a bit side-tracked creating the link...
Anyway, has anyone else done anything cool with their iBook? (Not that upgrading the hard drive is really that cool at all.) I was thinking of changing the color of the Apple logo on the back of the screen, but was wondering if, when you change the color, is it still going to glow in a dimly lit room? I don't want to lose the glow just to upgrade the color. Also, what is the best material to use for this? I've heard that a thin, colored plastic is good.

Well I am planning on taking my ibook G4 apart and putting an Intel Core Duo processor in it, a 600 GB Internal hard drive, 16 GB of RAM, 7.98 GHz CPU, hahahaha, I wish. I really haven't upgraded this thing since I bought it. I still have yet to upgrade the memory, I heard thats very easy isn't it? I'm going to max it out by getting a 1GB stick then i'll have 1.5 GB, plenty for me. If you go to the apple website, the PowerMacs there, you can customize it online and put 16 GB of RAM! You can even get a 1 TB Hard drive. Thats 1000 GB for all you people that don't know. I customized everthing online that I could, and the total was about $21,000 including a monitor. Ha. O yea, back to your question, well I would just try to get a hold of some guy that paints a lot of stuff, I heard of people that were painting entire macs and ipods. But just making the little apple logo a different color should be easy as cake to do. I would think a little thin, colored plastic would be good enuf for that.

Yeah, I hear that the transparent binder dividers, made of plastic, work OK. I'm still not sure if I'm going to do it though...I like the simplicity of the iBook logo. I wish you could edit the color via a system preference. How cool would that be?!

Hell yea, with like the ibook built in with different colored apple logo lights, sounds kinda nerdy but would be way cool.
