Hello everyone.. I'm new to the forum and have a quick question.
My monitor went bad on my ibook,(my dog spilled water on it). I can get a replacement monitor, but from what I hear it might be a little more difficult to replace than one on a dell notebook.
Does anyone know of anywhere that I can some instructions on doing the replacement. I don't want to screw it up, but keep in mind that I do do side hardware work, so it's not something new for me to tear down a notebook. I've just never done a Mac..
Any suggestions?

Get a guide here: iFixIt Guides
Just pick your model, and then pick a guide ("Display") on the next page.
You can get the replacement parts on eBay, usually. Look for broken iBooks and such for parts.
Hint: When you use the iFixIt guide, it will call for a spudger. I used small plastic putty knives to get the iBook case apart. Worked perfectly, left not a single mark. You can get them at Home Depot or Lowes, or any home improvement store.
Here are pictures of the putty knives and the iBook coming apart: http://www.mymacblog.com/index.php/a...ew-hard-drive/

Yeah, I just feel bad for the guy that has to dismantle every new portable that Apple releases just to add a new guide.

Looks like the take each machine apart, completely, and then take pictures of the whole thing, because all the guides use the same pictures in the beginning, and differ when you get into the more advanced stuff, like removing the hard drive itself. The beginning of each guide looks like a RAM upgrade, but then they go further and start stripping layers off the machine.

I am curious to know if this worked for you. Did you give this a shot?? My son's got the same problem, only it's really my problem too... It sounds to me like it's very difficult.
