1.25 powerbook not recognizing blank CD's

	I've got a 1.25/80/SD 15" powerbook. I have no trouble burning CD's from itunes, but when I pop one in to make a CD, I get nothing. If I create a burn folder and hit burn, it tells me to insert a blank CD. Not a bad CD, tried many of them. I'm running 10.4.5. I'm still covered by AC...but is this an OS X issue or is my powerbook at fault?
