Hey, I have an ibook but really wanted the macbook Pro but didn't have the extra $2500 to shell out to get it. I am going to sell my ibook this summer and I have some extra money but really would like to know if the prices are going to drop anytime soon. IF you think they are, could you tell me when and how much?

Intel will be dropping chip prices at the end of May; the 2.0Ghz part is expected to drop by about $200, but there is no telling if Apple will follow Intel's lead.

Especially since Apple has generally kept their prices fairly consistent. BUt at the same time, there weren't regular speedbumps coming along back then with the PPCs either..

Has there been any confirmation on whether Apple will implement the T2700s as an upgradeable option or something?

Intel is also releasing faster chips at that time. If anything I would expect Apple to stay true to form and keep their prices constant but hopefully bump the processor speeds accordingly. Then I will laugh as everyone complains that they made upgrades too soon. I'll still be happy with my MacBook.

I'd prefer them to switch to 2.0/2.17/2.33GHz than to just drop prices by $150. Of course the amount of bitching about them updating too quickly will be immense.

I'll chime in to echo Simon and Enigmaaron's opinions. I would hope that one of the main results of the Intel switch would be an ability to move to a more aggressive update schedule. Of course some people will bitch, but I think most people will be happy if they can be confident that by the time their current Mac gets old, whatever else is out will wipe the floor with it.

Also: If they bump on all the CPU speeds options in the MBP soon, it could leave room for 2 Core Duo configurations in the upcoming non-Pro MacBooks. That'd be cool.
