My new MacBook Pro has an odd sleep problem, and I can't seem to find a thread about it anywhere. It goes to sleep just fine, yet during its sleep, the optical drive makes a sound as though it's trying to eject a disc (there is none in it) about every 3 - 4 minutes. AppleCare support line had no answers, and neither did the Mac Genius at the store.

Any ideas?

This actually happened to me a few nights ago. Just as you described, the optical drive kept making noises. It woke me up a few times actually. Finally I discovered that I had left my bluetooth mouse on in the next room and turned it off. I don't know if that had anything to do with it at all, but the drive sounds stopped.

That would explain why the Mac Genius couldn't replicate the problem! Thanks, I'll give it a try!

Does it still do that when you disable the "allow bluetooth devices to wake this computer" option?
