Hi,

i have done a search in this forum and don't seem to be able to find the answer to this question. i would have thought it had been asked before though. Maybe I can't see the wood for the trees

My new MBP has just arrived, and I wondered if there is a right way and a wrong way to initially break the battery in? Any special hints and tips for prolonging the battery life. Several full charge/discharge cycles before topping up. leaving the MBP plugged in for a while when the battery has been charged?

Any hint. tips, help and advice you can spare would be most gratefully received by me and my MBP battery.

Many thanks in advance for both your time and help,

Matthew

I would follow the instructions in the manual, that's what I did. If I remember correctly, they are:

1) allow battery to charge completely... leave plugged in for at least 2 hours
2) remove power adapter and allow battery to run down to empty. keep using it until the computer goes to sleep.
3) when computer falls asleep, leave that way for a few hours (until it turns off i'd imagine)
4) plug computer back in and allow to fully charge up again.

I believe it said within the first week too.
