Adapters are seldom as reliable as a native solution. I suggest looking to solve your problem some other way.

As someone just mentioned in some other thread, PC Card -> USB adapters exist, but not for Mac.

I don't think what you're looking for is out yet. I'd recommend ditching the old hardware and buying new.

I just saw one in Microcenter. It was on clearance for $12. It was from MacAlly. (So one would assume it would work for the mac!)

I didn't look at it further because:
A) I have a PB which has a PC card slot and
B) I want to upgrade to a MacBook pro and I doubt it would work on the Intel version of Mac OSX
C) $12 screams "I've been discontinued"
- iMac 3.2Ghz 1TB - MacBook Pro 15" Core i7 2.3Ghz / 256SSD (Work laptop)
- PowerMac G5 - Dual 2.0 Ghz, 3GB, Soundsticks!,
- Lenovo Thinkpad T510 (also a work laptop), Win 7 Enterprise, 8GB, 320GB HDD

I just ran into the $12 MacAlly card and I put my ear up to it...

it screamed
I'VE BEEN DISCONTINUED!

however, I didn't look into it. so I dont know if it is truly discontinued, it just screamed that to me.....and if you can't trust a talking component...who can ya trust?

Actually after checking their web-site ... this is most likely what it was that I saw ...

http://www.macally.com/spec/specialt...ing/pcm04.html

(Not at all what I thought it was ... unless they have removed what I saw from their web-site.)

If I get back to the store I'll confirm the identity of the screaming component in question.
