Just picked up the new 160 GB Seagate 2.5" hard drive for my laptop at Fry's Electronics for $319. Installing it in my laptop later tonight. It's got that new Perpendicular Recording technology to get over that 120 GB Barrier they were running into on the smaller hard drives/platters. Comes with an 8 MB Buffer and 5400 RPM. Also comes with a Seagate 5-Year warranty. The Fry's person talked me out of their extended warranty, saying that it can't even come close to Seagate's. Gonna run some Disc Test Tools after I wipe this hard drive and reinstall OS X on it and then again on the 160 GB Seagate. I'll report back later.

Does anyone know when Apple started supporting LBA48 with their laptops? They added it to the PowerMacs in 2002 and I'm not sure about the other product lines.

I got my seagate 2.5 160GB HDD for my 15" PowerBook off of newegg.com for $245, it's running great. But 160GB isn't large enough for me.

For some reason couldn't download FWB's Disc Tools. Kept getting a webpage error, but it is noticeably faster. That may just be attributed to the fresh install and everything but one thing is for certain. The drive is whisper quiet. Even when in full on accessing mode. You can barely hear it in a completely quiet room. The apple drive that was in it before was quiet. This is like silent. Go Seagate. You guys f'in rock.
