I am not sure if this is the best forum to post this question in or not? If not sorry, let me know where it should be and I will post it there instead.

I am looking into picking up a powerbook or a macbook pro, but I have a few questions regarding what will work best for me and if it is possible to accomplish my goal.

I have an employee currently working in my office that does all of the design and graphics for our catalogues and advertising. I want to give her the ability to work from home. Currently she uses a PowerMac G4. She is working with larger indesgin files and constantly accesses an image library that contains about 5 gigs of images. Most of these images are linked to the current indesign file she is working on. She would be connecting to our office from her home on a standard residential cable internet connection.

I am struggling with the best way to ensure she is able to work on the file from both the office and from home.

I know in the Microsoft world you can use vpn and remote desktop to easily work from home. Is there a smilier program for macs and how well does it work with the size of files we are dealing with.

If not what would you guys recommend for this situation.

Thanks in advance for the help.

The problem with a remote desktop setup is that it will most likely be laggy, especially since you'll want to enable 32 bit colors across the connection.

An FTP solution might work, but the best way to do it would probably be NFS. On what machine is the image library located?
