Hi, sorry i posted this a few weeks ago but didn't work out a solution and its still happening.

Everytime I boot up my tibook g4/500 I HAVE to reset the PMU (the triangle switch at the back) or it won't turn on. If I don't do it, all I get is the mac chime and a dark screen.

Seems to me the PMU is totally screwed, but I have no idea what I can do about it.

Anyone? all help VERY appreciated

Surry to hear that, I think you're PB is dying. My tiPB 400 had those symptom lately and end up dying 2-3 weeks ago, I have to get a new laptop.

I'll sell the PB parts (screen, keyboard, airport, case, etc) on ebay. All look brand new.
-original iMac, TiPB 400, Cube, Macbook (black), iMac 24¨, plus the original iPod and a black nano 4GB-
