Hello,

I would like to do some work from home using my Mac. I was wondering if anyone know of a free software program that will allow me to access a remote linux environment (having the interface of the linux machine on my mac). I know for windows there are programs such as VNC Viewer, but what are the programs for Macs? Btw, I'm running OS X (not Tiger...yet).

Thanks!

I usually use X11 and log into the linux box with ssh. This does not show you the linux desktop, but you can start any gui on the linux machine and get it through ssh rendered on your mac screen. ssh -X username@linux-boxes-ip

Of course you can also use the commandline. If the guis are too slow (because your network is too slow), the commandline will save your day.

ssh (secure shell) is part of the bsd distribution, comes with OS X and works right out of the box.
