I accidentally burned a hole in the screen of my iBook during a very stressful call to verizon dsl tech support. It's just the plastic casing that was damaged- the screen and the computer are functioning perfectly. I need to replace the casing but my local Apple store told me they only sell the whole screen for $600. Needless to say, this isn't covered by my warranty.

Does anyone know how I might find or buy a dead screen/computer from which I could scavenge the needed part? I'm pretty sure I could just remove the cover of my screen and replace it with a fresh one, if I can find one.

Thanks

Yeah, it takes 3 minutes to replace the plastic cover.

I would suggest looking here: http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/sys/

Someone local might have a broken iBook. You can also put up a free WANTED ad.

Perfect case, busted screen...

Maybe we can work out a trade or something. I actually also have an extra 12" iBook sleeve from Waterfield Designes (sfbags.com), incredible quality, built to last forever.

Let me know if you want to do some old fashioned barterin', or buyin for that matter.

Is Verizon still having people sacrifice animals to the DSL gods?

or

You didn't spend an hour on the phone with tech support telling them your DSL was out, when in actuality the power was out, did you?
