There is no software hack. It's native resolution is 1024x768. I suppose it would be possible to replace the LCD and controller with a different one, but screw that, leave it alone. Why do you want a higher resolution out of such a small screen?

i guess its also i think i read something about ibooks being hackable or something

With the iBooks the hack is about running an external display at a higher resolution.

The LCD in the iBook or PowerBooks can't be run at a higher resolution.

Yea, I saw some laptops with 12" SXGA+ (1400x1050) screens a few years ago; it's only 145dpi.

edit: Toshiba Protege M200 is one such model.

My friend has a 12" Toshiba tablet / laptop (one of the spinny things) and has that res - he likes it, but I find it awful, I can literally barely read what is on it!

It's beautiful. About the same dpi as the 15" HD (1920x1200) screens.

If you can't read what's on it, increase your font size. It will look better and you'll probably still be able to fit more on screen.
