I am not sure if the cord that goes into the connector, which connects to the laptop is torn out or just detaching. Has any one else have this problem? I am not too surprise though for if you look at the materials and the amount of reinforcement they put on the cord it is very limited.

Yep. I had this problem happen with my ancient clamshell iBook. The cable is basically one wire with a second wire braided and wrapped on the outside. It is very frail. When it finally detached, I just cut the wire, unwound the braided wire, and soldered the two back together.

It's more trouble than it's worth to repair it, mostly because you have to be careful with it for the rest of its life Just buy a new one from Apple.

Yup. I've had two power supplies break like this in the four years that I've had my two TiPBs

Be careful...this happened to my friend's cord on his Titanium, and the cord started melting right before our eyes while we were in the lab yesterday.

I've taped my Yo-Yo up at that point even though it's fine it's there to help re-enforce it. Now if the connection into the Yo-Yo didn't keep needing re-soldering and wasn't held together with tape, everything would be fine.

I have similar problem w/PowerBook 5300ce. The cord is ok, but the socket that it plugs into on the back of the powerbook does not hold it firmly. It is easy to loose power. Has anybody been able to fix this problem?
