The fact that they don't recognize it is irresponsible, unethical, and very poor business. Apple, in my opinion, has always been a company that takes care of its customers and recognizes the problems and will attempt to make things better. It would make me feel 1093480239840923x better if they recognized it and said they were working on a solution but "in the meantime, run your iSight camera in your widgets and the noise should cease".

At least that would make me feel at ease as if I know our complaints were not being ignored.

Anyways, the reason for this thread.

Apple may not recognize the problem, whatever. BUT, when I was in the Apple retail store today, they had many copies of MacWorld laying around. I would assume, if they are selling this magazine in the store, that they do support and sell this item. In this magazine, they had a complete review of the Macbook Pro. They had a Pro and Con section which I immediately skipped to in order to see if they recognized this problem. Sure enough, right there it said "Noticeable processor whine on certain models". Certain being 99% and the 1% that done have it just havent used their computer long enough (joke).

My question for this board is, what can we do to make them recognize this problem and attempt to fix it? I know that "most mac users" dont surf these boards but we are definitely big enough to be heard. Those of us who do use these boards are obviously technology driven and care a great deal about it. We support Apple because we believe in them. Apple believes that they are a company that makes products which people desire and we buy them with trust. Now we have a problem, a large problem, and where are they? They won't even RECOGNIZE it. You can call them up and they say they dont know what you are talking about and/or they dont have any records of it and you can hear the whine on the MBP they are using in the background.

It's time for the consumers to make a stand and a point.

It's frankly bullshit.

They know about the problem. To publicly acknowledge it would mean they would have to service every macbook pro sold to date.
I am sure they are working on fixing it, but it is not in their corporations best interest to come out and tell people their flagship model emits a high freqeuncy tone at all times. They are doing what any powerful company CAN do is just look the other way, fix it, and pretend as if nothing happened.

Maybe once they get it all sorted here in the next few months then the early adopters who go in will have it sent in and properly repaired. One can only hope.

Wow, there's a thread like this for every single damn problem Apple's computers have. How about you talk to them about it rather than ranting on a forum where no one cares?

Furthermore, what proof does anyone have that this is a wide-spread issue? I know it's big enough that Apple should do something about it, and I have faith that Apple is working on fixing it as we speak, but you have to remember, the people who don't have the whine aren't going to post page-long rants about it. There's a good chance that the whiners (hah) are just a loud minority. This also often turns out to be the case.

First, I'd just like to say, it's not too bright by starting off your retort with an insult. All that does is make the other person pissed and then the point is moot because you dont give a **** what they say. I love Apple. Do they have bugs? sure. The bugs are TINY and MINUTE compared to any of the problems assocaited with PC's. Mac's just work. Therefor, people like to spend time and money to perfect their mac. Getting rid of the little things is all we can do something about cause everything else is wondreful. To me, the whine is just unexcusable. Why? Because there are all these other laptop's on the market with the same technology with no whine. Other people on this forum have other small issues...but I don't care about those.

It is a wide spread issue. MOST Macbook's have it, if you got one without, you're a lucky one. It's just something that shouldn't happen when there is evidence of others without the whine. It annoys me and while I can tolerate annoyances, after HOURS it starts to make you want to drill your ears.
