I bought a used 15 inch G4 and trashed (actually just renamed - doh!) the system library by mistake. Now it won't boot from system discs (or anything else). The multi-language panic screen comes up asking for a restart. This gets me nowhere.
What to do?

I would load the original system restore disk in the drive, and try to restart with option key held down. If you can choose and startup with the system restore disk, you could then access your hard drive to edit any inadvertant name changes. If you cant choose the system restore disk for startup, or it crashes on startup, I would suspect hardware malfunction. Perhaps remove memory chips one at a time and consider other possible problems like the hard drive.
