ibook G4 1.2Ghz PowerPC G4 Processor, 12" Screen, 256MB of RAM, 30gb HD, combo drive, airport ready

Can anyone tell me if this laptop config can run OSX smoothly?
Is $150 - $200 USD a good deal? This is the start price on an ebay auction...What would be a high end price for this item in good condition?

I only want it to surf the net and download images from my digital camera. I will download RAW files from my 20D in the field and transfer them to my G5 Powermac later. I won't use the laptop for heavy image editiing.

thanks for any and all advice

jon

ooops.....i'm not sure if I posted this in the right place....apologies...please move it if need be.

it sounds like a good deal to me. you'll definitely want to upgrade to at LEAST 512mb of ram, preferrably 768mb or 1.5gb if you have the cash, but after that it sounds like it will suit your needs fairly well

EDIT: i didn't read the whole post. high end price for me would be ~600, considering the age of the machine and the fact that you can pick up a refurbed last generation ibook for 799 from the apple store. i won't even mention the pending release of the intel replacements...

the 12" 1.2ghz were released in the later part of 2004 according to apple-history.com. they were updated in july 2005 if i'm not mistaken, so that model would have been made sometime in that period.

You are correct about them being updated in July of 2005.
I bought mine in March of 2004.

To the poster of the original question: Ask the eBay seller how old it is, and ask if the original receipt comes with the machine.

I'm thinking of selling my 15" ibook G4 1.2Ghz with 60Gb Hd and 756Mb of Ram. It comes with ilife 05, and tiger. Both are original disks. The 15" is a little big for my liking and am hoping for a small Macbook when they come out or trading for a smaller Powerbook. I would be willing to provide pictures etc... if anyone was interested. I'm up in Canada. And, no I am not one of those f***ing scam artists.

Are you sure it's 15" IIRC, there has never been a 15" iBook, but a 14" iBook and a 15" Powerbook...
