Hey guys,

Well my girlfriend has an iBook that just had a plethora of problems hit it. I'm a long time Mac user, but some of these problems I'm not familiar with, so I was hoping I could get some help.

First off her harddrive died, we sent that in to Applecare and they promptly fixed that.

Yet, here are my current proiblems.

1) When we got it back, at inital startup her computer booted under the terminal for some reason. After about a minute it continues with the startup process and then works like everything is normal. She isn't very computer literate and although this causes no problems, it weirds her out, so I'd like to fix this if I can.

2) Her screen will sometimes randomly dim, no reason, the backlight just stops. A restart will take care of this. If I had known about this problem before, I would have told Applecare to take a look at the powersupply when she sent it in. However, that is not the case, so before I resort to sending it in, I was wondering if anyone knew what the heck is going on?

It's a 1.33 iBook, running OS X 10.4. Everything was freshly installed, and works fine apart from the aforementioned problems.

Thank you guys!
