Ok, here are the differences I see between the machines. Please only post any other differences you see here, and leave the discussion to The Discussion Thread.
  • Screen size & resolution (obviously)
  • Color/finish
  • Different style of keyboard that is part of the enclosurePicture of Keyboard
  • Lack of ExpressCard/34 slot
  • Slower Top Speed
  • Different Latching Mechanism
  • No keyboard backlighting
  • Vastly different GPU
  • Mini-DVI vs. DVI-I (seem to be functionally the same but now you have to buy connectors to get DVI-D and VGA)
  • No ambient light sensing
  • No 7200RPM 100GB Hard Drive Option
  • No way to get one open RAM slot
  • MacBook has a smaller Power Adapter Picture of box
  • Simple Upgrading of Hard Disks AppleInsider Article
What else?

Good point, on the MBP there's one on each side and on the MB there's two on the left side, right?

Fewer letters in the name.
Fewer syllables in the name.
Different logic board.
Different keyboard.
No Firewire 800.
Different price.
IR port is in a different location.
Different battery.
Different case material.

The keyboard looks really cool, but it is flat, not back-lit, and a little spread apart.

The MB does indeed have sudden motion sensor. Here's the link to the Apple Store comparison page for the MB and MBP models.

The MBP comes with Quickbooks New User Edition, which is sufficient for most small and home businesses.

Passing of an era: The MB does NOT come with Appleworks, though it will run in Rosetta if you've got a copy...

edit: forgot the link:

Because the MB has the magnetic latch, it doesn't have the button on the front with the power light in it, so where is the power light now??

Look after my manor, or I will bum you, literally, to death.
