well,

right now I am displeased. after being without a computer for a week and one half I am doing my work on my internet capable cellphone. but at last the thing gets here. I do the firstthing anyone does and I am welcomed by a whiney upstart with some sort of cracking noise. no big deal.... oh I see it has major problems with uneven illumination. not ideal but what ever. so back to the first thing we do with a new machine. I pop in the install cd to reinstall the os and empty the languages and programs I don't intend to use.

spin

spin

scratch
spin

spin more.

hmmm this is not going to work.

ok eject should do the trick.

its stops spinning. does not mount. does not eject either. wtf? fine restart it should either load the reinstall screen or eject. nothing.

this is one of the old ones not clearly one of the ones released today.

I love apple and its products but without qaulity control this happens.

Ugh, sorry about that. Maybe this time around they'll just send you the new model. Why did you reinstall the OS when you got it? Do language packs really take up that much space? Just curious. Regardless, the computer should be able to go through a reinstallation of the OS without breaking down.

That is teh suck! Ask for a New 2.16 and tell them to watch episode 52 of the Sopranos if they do not take you seriously.

pray for me guys and gals, i am on the phone with apple consumer relations and the lady sounds very sad for me. i told her i was willing to pay for the extra to get 17in if that is what it took to get a working machine today. so if all goes well that is what will happen.

edit: looks like this is all up to whether a store near me has anything in stock like what i have. hmmm. ok. long wait on the phone i dont know if this is a yes or a no.

Awesome! I'm glad you got a machine that finally works. Sucks you had to go through all the b***t to get it, but an upgrade is nice.

I have had my 17" MBP for 5 days. The lower left corner of the screen casing keeps keeps getting caught on the computer when I open and close the screen. I took back to my local Apple store. They are going to replace it, but I was also told I am being too picky.
Anyone else have this happen to their machine?
