I've got a slight bow in the metal right above the latch release button on my MacBook Pro. I'd like to remove the upper case and bend the bow back in. I followed the instructions on ifixit but by the dvd drive and the latch the case does not want to let go. I really do not want to force things. Am I missing something, do you need to pull harder, or is there a secret screw somewhere?

Screw locations: -

4 on the left
4 on the right
2 on the back
4 along the bottom
2 in the battery bay at the front of the unit (easily missed)
3 holding the memory door down
2 in the memory compartment (T6 screws)

Now lift the topcase from the back to about 45 degrees, this will unclip the front (you'll hear a few clicks), now lift it backwards to reveal the connector to the logic board. Viola!

Re-fitting is easy - just don't force anything. The clips at the front will click together when you push down on the lid (squeezing along about 1 cm from the front works best) be carefull not to bend the metal above the cd slot - wedge something plastic in the slot to avoid warping.

The 4 long screws in the bottom tend to cross thread easily - so always back screw before gently screwing in.

Watch you don't put a side screw in the holes for the dvi connector - you wont get it out without removing the logic board.

Hope this helps ya
