I see all these reviews and forum posts etc and it seems that _everyone_ has 2.0 or above. am I the only poor soul that is poor?

sucks that the 2.0 dropped down to the 1.83 price
--oh well, this 1.83 is still plenty fast, and nice. can't really complain.

with all do respect how poor can you be if you bought a $1999 laptop, that despite the recent upgrades is still a very good machine (if yours works that is). there is no hug smiley, but have a hug anyway.
Computers:
Macbook Pro: 17in, 2.16Ghz, 120GB HD, 1.5 GB ram.
iBook G4: 1.07Ghz, 60GB HD, 756mb ram (on sale for parts)

I'm with you too, man! We'll get thru this!

Also, I bet the extra 170 MHz doesn't make a huge difference anyways.

It also sucks to see 2.1 price dropped to 2.0
