Just read from increw.com, if one remove the the battery from the MBP, the maximum frequency of MBP will drop down to 1000MHz so it will be cooler.

Don't know if someone posted this yet but it is interesting nevertheless.

Interesting.....but wil my mbp shut down completely if i accidently loosen the magsafe w/o the battery? lol (i would suspect so). I would love to use my mbp on my bed w/o the high temp.

But very intereresting news indeed and i think they are close to more conclusions as to lowering the temp. i'm excited

Yes. Of course it will shut down without a power supply. And all of the last few releases of Powerbooks have reduced the CPU speed when the battery is not installed.
