I was wonder if anyone has tried a 19-23" LCD externally from the macbook? Im looking at the cinema display for cs2 and raw editing, not games. If you hook up an external display can you raise the resoluition higher than the macbooks default res? Also...can i close the lid on my macbook and still beable to use ext. display/keyboard/mouse?

Thanks for the help!!!

You can use just about any LCD with the MacBook, and of course it can be higher resolution than the MacBook's screen (it extends the Mac desktop so you can have different things on each screen). And yes, you can close the lid and use it if you like.

I'm typing on my MacBook hooked up to an external mouse, keyboard and screen. It's kind of nice. Wasn't as nice until I started using 2gb of ram though.

edit: The screen is 24 inches.

I forgot yesterday when I go my new macbook that I needed the mini dvi dongle to go with it... (DO'OH!) I'm hoping compusa has one....I'm picking up a bluetooth mouse today.

Great machine so far! No chirping, no screen issues, just beautiful...

I'll post back hopefully this evening how my 20 inch cinema display is..

Incase you don't know, your MacBook won't run CS2 particually well. It is not designed to run on Intel Macs, and hence runs under an Apple technology called Rosetta, which translates PPC code into Intel code, hence making the programs run slowly. Only when CS3 comes out will the application be running at full speed, and until then, if you do loads of photoshop work, CS2 on the MB probably won't be acceptable to you (unless your desktop was dog slow!)

Or you could always just use CS2 on Windows (Boot Camp) which will, of course, run at full native speed. But where's the fun in that?
