I have an ibook g4...well, a hurtin' one from my sister;(
Plug it in, turn it on...I hear the apple "chord", the drive starts everything seems fine...and then...
the screen flashes but turns black and essentially the whole thing grind to a halt. I tried the restore disc...couldn't start up from it, it spat it out after the "chord".
I figure this will all boil down to a new "logic board" (easy answer for everything mac related it seems haha)...but I thought I'd bounce it around the forum to see if any other hope was out there!

Yeah, that sounds right. The logic board, better known as the system board or mother board to PC heads, is probably fried. Unfortunately, this is definitely not user-serviceable. If the iBook is still under warrantee, take it to an Apple store or call Apple tech support. If not, you're kinda out a laptop.

If you have time and a technical hand you could replace your logicboard, it really isn't that hard. Just lots of time and patience. There are hundreds of diffrent size screws that need to be organized and sorted. And by all means, download or get a copy of the service manual. With out it, this job will be a wash.

I would defanently see if you could get it replaced by someone. This is something that is well worth the price if your willing to pay.
