Ahha! Got my sister's ibook up and running and now wanna go wireless but for cheap
Wondering what airport/aircard set-up I'd need for this bad boy...it's an ibook G4, 1ghz, running 10.3...
Do I need a specific card? Will only an extreme card from apple do? Any non-apple cards that are half decent? Prices?
Anyhelp would be great ..cheers and thanks

i think your ibook alredy has airport built-in. You need a wireless router to go wireless.
I have an ADSL modem that is conected to my wireless router. The first time i used i had to set-it up and make a password. It was all done using safari.
If you already have an internet conection, you just need a wireless router.

sorry, i didn't new.. So you can buy an airport extreme card and install. That's the card that came with my ibook. I don't really know if there are others card adaptors. You can also try an USB wireless adapter. It can be cheaper than the airport card and you don't need to open your ibook. I know that Dlink is Mac compatible, because i have one in my sisters's PC. The advantage is that youcan use it in others computers.

I read your ibook's manual and it says it is airport ready, so you have the antena. I dont know how much does it costs, in apple store costs u$79.
I think you can install it easy, under the keyboard youget direct access to the slot. But as i said before, the USB adaptor is a lot easyer...
