Difficulties logging into Darwin

Hey, I would like to log just into Darwin using the >console method at the login screen. I do this, and it works, however several seconds after I reach the Darwin console, a blue screen pops up in front of me and I can't do anything but a hard reboot.

What can I do?

After tinkering around -- I disabled Apple Remote Desktop and it finally worked. Cool
