okay so i got my new macbook today, screen seems okay, build is fine, started up core duo temp,
with just web browsing , temp was about 65, processor useage was about 15%... nice and quiet..

i wanted to see what it was like when near full usuage, because im mainly gonna use it for logic pro, so that gonna be running prob bout 90% mostly,

i only have 524mb memory, (tho gonna get 2gig) i opened imovie with theme playing, opened idvd with theme playing, opened safari with vid playing, opened quicktime with vid playing, i got it up to 80% usage but at about 50% the fans came on..(fine) but man they are loud..they sound like a mosquito slowly getting higher in pitch so its very noticable, like a jet engine mosquito starting up...then constant high pitch sound..i wouldnt call it a whine...but it is very annoying and would drive me crazy...

is this normal ?..can someone do the same test as above and tell me if the mosquito is normal,
im gonna call apple and get another one, ..but are they all gonna have this crap high pitch sound when using it from 50% - 90% usage ?

funny when i turned it on and went to screensaver, it beachballed..and u cant force quit that..so had to turn off...

also when i first turned it on and looked at the clock widget it was set for cardiff..is that standard or does it suggest it was refurbed ?...my quad clock first said california...

(i know you can change the city on the clock)

after reading all the macbook probs, i was prepared to be returning macbooks until i got a good one, but man , what a hastle....ill keep sending em back , until theyre sick of me ,
i just want a good one....

Keep sending them back because you can hear the fans? That's going to work, I am sure.

Yours is fine. I can't stand all these people on here that expect their computers (especially with only 512 memory) to not run the fans and be completely quiet. I hope Apple takes the computer and refuses to give you a new one for you wasting their time.

Here's the deal and don't continue buying MacBooks if you can't deal with it:

- The heat ranges from 55C-90C
- The fans usually kick in around 79C, they get louder as the heat increases (GOSH WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT?)
- They don't whine, you whine.

I dont think I've heard the fans of mine ever kick in. I am in a cool basement and the MacBook hasnt seen any atmosphere besides it.

PS. Isnt there only one blower fan?

AFAIK the MB has one fan whereas the MBP has two.

well ben , i called apple today and they are sending a new one,
im glad i did call them, your stupid comments kicked me into action,

somepeople get respect by standing up for whats right, you however will never get any respect with your attitude...

now ive had it a few more hours, the mooing is quite horrible and has started doing it at 2% usage, the mooing shouldnt be happening, apple have said that, so stick ya comments mate,

it sounds like your too much of a chicken to stand up for your rights, and expect people to be like you.

no way , you accept a machine that is not supposed to have the fans switch on and off all the time or get a mosquito saound when going past 50% usage, then i fell sorry for you, your just being trodden on by apple if you accept that, if other macbooks dont do it, then i want a good one too..

and ill try 7 macbooks, then ill give up.

hopefully number two will be better,

you should get what you pay for , if i wanted a whiney, mooing laptop i would have paid half the price for a crappy dell !!

im not saying i shuldnt hear the fans, im saying the noise should be fan like , not high pitch squeel like, ...and mooing ican put up with , but its f%%&ing annoying....

now if i had a good working macbook, id be over the moon, as logic works a dream on it with only 512 ram, when i get 2gig , it should fly...
