Is anybody having issue with their trackpad? Mine just stops working at times. Like if I pull my finger away and start typing, then go to start navigating with the trackpad, it will either not move the cursor or it will not even have a visible cursor.

Sometimes this even happens when I am just using the trackpad. It just stops moving. I try moving my finger around the pad and eventually I get it to appear or work again.

Anybody have a solution to this one? I certainly hope this is software and not hardware! I just put in a new 120gb Seagate drive and don't want to have to start all over with a new computer!

I tried messing in system prefs with the ignore accidental track input. Didn't help with the problem.

Thanks

Mine does the same thing. Mostly in the google tab in Firefox and in sudoku widget. It is a little annoying but I figure it's not hardware but software because of where it dies it.

do you have any third party trackpad driver installed, i.e. sidetrack?

i've got sidetrack installed, and i've set it up so that the right side of the trackpad is used for vertical scrolling. but when i try to start a trackpad movement on that ride side, it won't register as movement, only scroll. there's an option to disable this in sidetrack.

mine does it anywhere and in any program. I have had it happen on the desktop, itunes and safari.

I won't feel bad if it is just software, but am beginning to wonder.

I just did a fresh install yesterday too.

okay, so I just got off the phone with apple care.

they were trying to blame adobe cs1 for the problem but offered something that looks like a fix!

I have been on the computer for about 20 minutes and the trackpad has yet to act up on me yet.

So first I hold the shift key when booting. That opens safe mode. I then deleted some folders.
Goto machd>library> and delete the cache and startup items folders. It will say you can't delete everything, just click ok. Next reboot the computer in normal mode. Delete the rest of the trash then go to your home folder then the library and delete the cache folder. Empty the trash again.

I also got rid of CoreDuo temperature application. That might have been causing some issues because it was always running when I had these issues. Not sure on this one though, since I had it running in the past and didn't have any issues with the trackpad.

Hope this helps anybody who is having this problem.

I was having a similar problem. Whenever I would use the keyboard, the trackpad would not respond right away (this was most noticeable in Safari when I'd use the arrow keys to scroll). I found that there was about an inch on each side of the trackpad that was inactive after using the keyboard.

The solution? Uncheck "Ignore accidental trackpad input" in the System Preferences.

Hopefully this fixes your problem as well.
