i just got this ibook. and im not much of a mac guy so i thought i would look to u guys for some help. its a white g3 ibook. 800mhz 640mb ram 30gig hdd. it has a fresh install of 10.4 on it. Now the problem is i cant open system prefrences. everytime i do it closes and gives me a report/retry box. What should i do? i should say i dont have any of the discs or anything. its just the laptop itself. i do think i have a 10.2 disc from the last ibook i owned but ive never used or looked at it. any help would be appreciated. thanks
Look in /Library/PreferencePanes and ~/Library/PreferencePanes folders. If you have anything in there, move them away or delete them. It might be third party preference panes installed causing the issue.
