I had a strange problem earlier tonight, DVD got stuck in the drive but the MBP wouldn't boot no matter what I did. See all details here http://silvermac.com/blog/2006/dvd-s...n-macbook-pro/

I tried with pressing mouse button (trackpad), tried to reset PRAM, tried to boot in target mode but nothing helped, the screen was just grey. So I had to lock the breaks on the DVD, I stuck the piece of cardboard into the drive to stop it from spinning and this finally got it out.

I wonder, why MBP wouldn't even try to eject it when I ress trackpad button while booting ? Even more, why would it ignore the target mode ?

I had a similar problem. I don't really understand it either. I don't think it was a case of the disk being physically stuck, since the computer didn't even seem to be trying to eject it.
