That is the OS X version of Doom 3, and I personally think that is very playable. I thought this might help some of the people out who want to play games, but can't afford a MacBook Pro. Notice: that was with low settings, and a very low resolution, but as long as it looks pretty good, and is playable, then why not?

You are welcome. I figured that several people have yet to see it.

Hey, I don't want to spoil your fun but I've played a lot of D3.

The video shows the game dropping frames like crazy - and that is without the action!

Take it from me, even in it's current state play would be hard. In a room full of monsters or multiplayer this would be useless. All the action would happen in the frames that you don't see. Weapons such as the shotgun would be impossible to use because they rely on knowing exactly where your opponent is when you press the trigger, else you have to wait a second or so to reload. In that time you will be dead

Is it possible to change the settings to improve this? e.g. lower res, no shadows etc etc?

I really don't think that you can judge frame rate from a video like this.

I wonder how playable it is. My G5 with a x800xt its playable, with the GMA950 - I grimace at the speed :/

ICruise, I do understand what your saying. However, I recognise the frame problems from the vid. If I cranked my game res to say 1600x1200, I'd see the same "snatching" effect. It's worse than blinking in slow motion!

I've played clan doom online for 18 months - I don't know much, but I know doooooom. Even with a 9800pro/2MB connection you could be slaughtered by anyone with better specs

To say the game runs from the video evidence is like thinking minimum specs are good enough. Running a game and playing a game are different.

The minute Apple can come up with a decent game machine that takes down my p4 and will also run my pc apps and I'm gunna scrap my current set up and go with it. Oh, and cash IS an issue
